Designing Daydreams Come True!

A couple posts back, I mentioned that it was really time for my big boy to have a big room to match his big personality.  (I know, I know . . . that’s a lot of big.)  It was becoming more and more obvious that, whether or not we were able to sell our house, Aiden needed his own space that was not the nursery he had occupied since he was born:

The Nursery

We decided to go ahead and move him into the other room, since we are planning for another kiddo sometime in the near future.  This room  was initially the guest room and looked like this:

BEFORE: The Guest Room

I have spent the better part of my long, labor-day weekend transforming it into this:

AFTER: Aiden's new room!

I know the sports theme is a bit out of character for us, but Aiden loves sports and balls and I thought this could be really fun.

These chairs make the room! And when I found them for $20 each, it was the last push I needed to go ahead and decide on a basketball theme.

I'm pretty sure Aiden likes them too!

As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure he likes the whole room.

And he liked helping me decorate it too.

All in all, I think we scored a “home run” with this one!  What do you think?

  1. I understand you guys are not sports fans but unless I missed it, I didn’t see a baseballl. So one might would say “you made the goal”. Either way, the room is pretty dang cute. And Aiden, of course, only makes it cuter. My favorite is the drum stool!

    • There are baseballs… on the walls and in his basket. Although the theme is primarily basketballs, we don’t discriminate among the various sports ;) The drum stool is, of course, Tylers.

  2. Looks great! It’s amazing what a fresh doona, some curtains and a few decorations can do to transform a room. Oh and I love the orange walls, I always enjoy seeing people being brave with colours.

You have reminded me that it is probably time I update our little boys room… Maybe a Pirate theme? Or coboys like Woody – he’s obsessed with Toy Story! We’ll see…

    • Thanks! Glad you like it. I’ve always liked the deep orange on the walls in there too, no matter what it’s accessories were, but especially now with the basketballs. Let me know how your son’s room works out. I’d love to see what you come up with.

  3. You are awesome. I greatly admire your decorating skills and how you have your house looking so neat and homey all the time. : ) Good job!
